Miami drivers paid less at the pump last week, with the price of regular gasoline dropping 5 cents as of Sunday.
As the new workweek begins, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Miami-Dade County stands at $2.86, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,690 stations across the area. That price is 10.9 cents higher than a month ago, but 29.8 cents lower than a year ago.
The cheapest gas in Miami was priced at $1.99 per gallon on Sunday. Meanwhile, Key Biscayne’s two gas stations continued to post the highest prices in the county, at $4.49 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said oil prices slipped slightly last week amid reduced geopolitical risk, but warned that seasonal factors are beginning to strengthen.
“Those factors are likely to intensify, potentially driving the national average back above the $3-per-gallon mark, where prices could remain for at least part of the spring,” De Haan said.
