One of the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists is bringing a landmark exhibition to Tampa. Hunt Slonem, the internationally acclaimed painter, announced that Spectrums of Slonem will be coming to Tampa’s Drew Marc Gallery for the artist’s first-ever solo exhibition in the region.
The exclusive exhibition will be in the city for two nights only, Thursday, February 19, and Friday, February 20, from 6-9 pm each evening. Spectrums of Slonem offers collectors and art enthusiasts an exceptional opportunity to acquire important works by an artist with a decades-long international career, while gaining insight into his creative process, artistic influences, and enduring market presence.
The Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, February 19, from 6-9:00 pm, followed on Friday by an Artist Talk and book signing from 6-9:00 pm. Both events will be held at Drew Marc Gallery, located at 2409 S. MacDill Ave., Suite 400. The online presale is available here, and we highly recommend an early RSVP to secure your spot, available here.
The two-day presentation is a monumental occasion in the city’s fine art and cultural history, and it is expected to attract established collectors, designers, curators, and art patrons from across Florida and beyond. Slonem will be present in person for both evenings, offering collectors and guests a rare opportunity to experience his work firsthand and engage directly with the artist in an intimate gallery setting.
Slonem is one of the greatest artists of his generation
In the world of contemporary artists, Slonem’s name and work are regarded as some of the most influential and important of his generation. His work is held in major museum collections worldwide and has been exhibited internationally, with representation in leading institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum, among many others. Bringing this exhibition to the city speaks not only to Tampa’s emergence as a growing destination for world class art, but to the role of Drew Marc Gallery in elevating the city’s arts and culture scene. It was their relationship with the artist that made this monumental exhibition possible.
Slonem’s most sought-after works center on recurring motifs, including bunnies (his most collected and enduring subject), tropical birds inspired by his long-standing personal aviaries, and butterflies that explore themes of transformation, vitality, and movement. These subjects are rendered through bold color palettes, expressive brushwork, and rhythmic repetition, resulting in richly layered surfaces that command presence.
Spectrums of Slonem will present an expansive selection of the artist’s hallmark imagery, including flowers, birds, butterflies, and his iconic bunnies, with works available in a wide range of scales, from intimate compositions to large-scale statement pieces suitable for significant residential and commercial installations.
“This exhibition represents a defining moment for our gallery and for Tampa’s collecting community,” says Andrew Trujillo, Gallery Director + Owner of Drew Marc Gallery. “Bringing Hunt Slonem to Tampa for the first time is a rare opportunity. His work holds a powerful position in the global art market, and these two evenings will offer an experience that feels both personal and significant.”
While an RSVP is not required to attend, it is highly recommended given the crowd Slonem is expected to draw. You can RSVP and sign up for presale here.
