SO I WAS JUST HERE PATIENTLY WAITING, GETTING READY TO JAM OUT. THE SEASON OPENS TONIGHT WITH THE REIGNING NBA CHAMPS, THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER, THAT WILL PLAY ON HOME COURT WESH TWO. DAREN STOLZFUS LIV AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO CITYWALK DAREN. THERE’S A LOT OF EXCITEMENT FOR WHAT COULD BE A BIG SEASON AHEAD. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. TONIGHT’S OPENING NIGHT. BOTH GAMES ARE BACK ON NBC, SO WESH GETS TO SHOW YOU A DOUBLE HEADER. BUT HERE AT THE NBC SPORTS GRILL AND BREW UNIVERSAL ORLANDO CITYWALK, WE’RE HAVING A GOOD TIME. THEY’RE GETTING SET UP FOR SOME ACTIVATIONS OUT HERE. THEY’RE GONNA HAVE A DJ, SPECIAL FOOD, ACTIVITIES, ALL THAT STUFF. ALL LEADING UP TO TONIGHT’S TIPOFF FESTIVITIES. SO TONIGHT, AS WE SAID, THE DEFENDING CHAMPS ARE ON WESH TWO AS THEY GET THEIR SEASON STARTED AGAINST THE HOUSTON ROCKETS AND THEN THE NIGHTCAP, YOU GET THE LAKERS AND THE WARRIORS IN A GAME THAT STARTS AT 10:00. SO PLENTY OF BASKETBALL HEADED YOUR WAY. AS FOR THE ORLANDO MAGIC, THEY DON’T START UNTIL TOMORROW. THEY WILL HOST THE MIAMI HEAT. WE’LL HAVE ALL KINDS OF PREGAME COVERAGE FROM THE KIA CENTER TOMORROW. BUT AT PRACTICE TODAY, THESE GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT THEY’RE JUST READY TO PLAY THE GAMES THAT ACTUALLY COUNT. SO WE’RE EXCITED TO GET OUT THERE AND PLAY PLAY A HOME GAME THIS OFF THE YEAR AND JUST SEE WHERE WE’RE AT. WE’RE SUPER FOCUSED ON TOMORROW. LIKE I SAID, WE ALSO WANT TO ENJOY, ENJOY THIS SEASON AND IN EACH GAME AND EACH EACH PART OF THE JOURNEY KIND OF TUNE OUT THE NOISE A LITTLE BIT. AND MAYBE THE PRESSURES THAT COME WITH EXPECTATIONS AND WITH MAKING THE MOVES WE DID THIS SUMMER. IF WE CAN DO A GOOD JOB WITH THAT CONSISTENCY, I THINK WE’RE WE’RE WE’RE IN GOOD SHAPE. YEAH. YOU GOT TO WALK THAT FINE LINE OF BEING EXCITED AND OPTIMISTIC, BUT ALSO STAYING LOCKED IN. WE’LL SEE WHAT THE MAGIC HAVE IN STORE FOR A GREAT 82 GAME SEASON AHEAD. MUCH MORE BASKETBALL, NBA, ALL THAT STUFF RIGHT HERE ON WESH. BUT FOR NOW, LIVE FROM CITYWALK DAREN STOLZFUS. WE WILL SEND IT BACK TO YOU. ALL RIGHT. HAVE FUN OUT THERE. DAREN. AND WITH HOURS TO GO BEFORE HIS FIRST GAME AS THE LEAD NBA PLAY BY PLAY ANNOUNCER FOR NBC SPORTS, MIKE TIRICO SHARED HIS THOUGHTS ON WHAT HE’S EXCITED ABOUT WITH THE NBA. RETURNING TO NBC. THE NBA ON NBC WAS SUCH A PART OF THE FORMATIVE BASKETBALL YEARS FOR A LOT OF US WHO ARE OF A CERTAIN AGE AND EVEN SOME OF THE STARS IN THE NBA, THEY WERE INSPIRED BY WATCHING THE MICHAEL JORDAN, CHARLES BARKLEY, PATRICK EWING, THAT ERA OF THE NBA. THOSE ARE THE THINGS I THINK, THAT HAVE US EXCITED TO BE BACK. YOU HEAR THAT FAMILIAR MUSIC, THE FEEL OF THE NBA AND THE NBA IS GOING TO BE ON EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT, SAVE FOR A COUPLE BETWEEN NOW AND APRIL. SO THE BEAUTY OF IT IS FOR FANS, THERE’S EVEN MORE ACCESS TO MORE NBA GAMES THAN EVER BEFORE. DON’T MISS THE NBA’S RETURN TO NBC AFTER 24 YEARS. TONIGHT, THE ROCKETS AND THUNDER FACE OFF AT 730.
