TALLAHASSEE – Fla. – The UConn softball team dropped their final game at the JoAnne Graf Classic to No. 7 Florida State, 6-0 on Sunday morning.
Alexandra Bacher (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned her first start of the season for the Huskies, making her third appearance in the circle. Bacher went just 0.1 inning giving up four runs on four hits.
Florida State jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) entered in relief for Bacher midway through the first inning, and helped limit the damage, stranding a pair of runners in scoring position to keep the score at 4-0. Walter settled in, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, only giving up a pair of hits to the potent Seminoles lineup.
Sydnee Koosh (Canton, Ohio) came on in relief for Walter in the fourth inning, making her second appearance of the season. Koosh faced just two batters before being replaced by Caprice Bohmer (Ashburn, Va.) in the fourth inning. Bohmer managed to escape a bases loaded jam to end the fourth inning, keeping the score at 4-0.
Bohmer went on to close out the rest of the game in the circle for the Huskies, going 2.1 innings. She gave up two runs on just a pair of hits, with two strikeouts.
Florida State extended their lead with a pair of runs in the sixth inning making it 6-0.
News and Notes
The Huskies offense was shutout for the first time this season. The last time UConn was held scoreless in a regular season game was April 19, 2024, at Seton Hall.
Savannah Ring recorded a hit in her third straight game.
Isabella Lundquist recorded the Huskies first stolen base of the season, the first of her career.
