Surveillance video in Miami captured the moments after a community activist and business owner was fatally shot while he was outside his own restaurant.
Three days after 40-year-old Dwight C. Wells’ murder, the search for the shooter is still underway.
According to Miami Police, the shooting happened on Friday night at Wells’ restaurant Winning and Won Turkey Legs.

Police said a suspect walked up towards him, shot him and then ran away.
In the surveillance video, several people were seen running after the shots were fired, and Wells was seen hitting the ground.
Moments later, police officers and paramedics arrived, and for nearly 10 minutes, paramedics were giving Wells CPR before he was placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
Following his death, a makeshift memorial with flowers and balloons was seen at his restaurant’s patio on Sunday.
NBC6 spoke exclusively to Wells’ girlfriend, who said she was at a loss for words.
“He didn’t deserve that,” Lulu said. He didn’t. It wasn’t right. He wasn’t just no animal.”
She said she was sitting right next to him when the gunman walked up to him and shot him to death.

Wells’ mother, Mary Brown, is now relying on her faith to keep her going.
“If I didn’t know God, I would be messed up,” she said. “You know I’m missing him. You know I’m going to miss him. But all is well. God has calmed my spirit,’ he has given me peace.”
His family said Wells, also known as “Screamer,” was a pillar in the community by being a business owner and activist who advocated for the community’s youth.
His aunt told NBC6 that he started the Bikes Up, Guns Down movement.
“That was about helping the kids, the inner-city kids, keeping them focused, keeping them out of trouble,” she said.
Some of those riders paid homage to the activist outside the business on Sunday.
“He was very loved by the bike life community. He actually got me to start riding. If it wasn’t for him, I’d probably be off doing something else,” said rider Jaheim Culpepper.
No arrests have been made as police continue to search for the suspect.
