The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim, a man in his early 20s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting just off Collins Road on Jacksonville’s Westside early Tuesday left a man in his early 20s injured, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Christopher Smith said a dispute between the victim and suspect occurred prior to the shooting. Smith said the suspect, a man in his early 40s, went to the victim’s home on Cinnamon Lakes Drive to settle the dispute, which led to an altercation.

During the altercation, Smith said the suspect shot the victim in his abdomen.

Officers responded to the scene around 12:10 a.m., according to Smith. When they arrived, the victim was found injured, as he was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

All parties involved, including the suspect, were detained and are cooperating with the investigation, Smith said. No arrests have been made at this time, as Smith said investigators are reviewing whether the shooting may have been done in self-defense.

Smith further told First Coast News the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and poses no threat to the community.
