“My heart is here,” she said. “I have to tell you that. Even before this school opened up, I was part of helping start the process.”

Spoto is the math and science instructional coach at the school. She helps her students find ways to relate to learning math.

“I just try to break it down into something that makes sense to me so that it can make sense to them,” said Spoto.

Spoto has a building named after her on campus.

“It is a thrill to know that this is going to be named after me for as long as they have it,” said Spoto.

One of her students, Colton Whitcomb, nominated Spoto to be recognized as an A+ Teacher.

“I don’t think a lot of people recognize how much effort she puts in for us,” said Whitcomb. “She’s made everyone’s trip up through Trinity amazing and great.”

Spoto said she was honored, mainly because the recognition came from a student.

“Because he felt the need to recognize a teacher, not necessarily me but a teacher, that he felt really has helped him,” she said. “It’s quite amazing to me.”
