BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following the first week of the 2026 season, the Florida Atlantic softball team was ranked by several national outlets, coming in at No. 23 in both the NFCA/GoRout and Softball America polls as well as No. 25 in the D1Softball Top 25. Additionally, the team is receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll.
This comes on the heels of the Owls finishing their opening weekend of play undefeated at 5-0, with the first three wins coming against Big Ten opponents Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Florida Atlantic won 8-0 in a five-inning run-rule against the Hoosiers to open the season before a 10-6 victory over the Buckeyes and a 4-3 win versus the Badgers.
In each poll, FAU is the highest-ranked school that is not a member of either the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, or ACC conferences. Head Coach Jordan Clark, now in her fourth season, has guided the Owls to a 9-3 record against those conferences in the past two seasons.
Florida Atlantic now has an opportunity to put its national ranking to the test in the upcoming weekend’s Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational. First up is a matchup against the national consensus No. 1 Texas Tech on Friday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. The Owls will then face Florida State, ranked as high as No. 5, the same day at 7 p.m. and then No. 2 Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 14, at noon.
