FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Colby Erskin, a former South Plantation High School teacher and football coach, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail Tuesday after being transferred from Seminole County, according to jail records obtained by Local 10 News.

Investigators said the 39-year-old was arrested last week in connection with allegations that he tried to exploit a 15-year-old girl.

Records show Erskin is facing one count each of solicitation of a child and transmission of material harmful to minors.

Broward County school officials confirmed that Erskin previously taught mathematics and served as head football coach at South Plantation High School from August 2022 to August 2024.

They said he also worked as a substitute teacher in South Florida at various times between 2014 and 2022. His most recent employment at Mount Dora High School ended after less than a month with the district.

Investigators say one of the alleged victims is the daughter of Yaniv Rosenberg, who described being shocked that someone he trusted would try to harm his daughter.

Rosenberg told Local 10 News last week that his daughter used a friend’s phone to document inappropriate texts and nude photos that were allegedly sent to her by Erskin before she came forward.

“You are lucky because very bad things were going to happen to you,” Rosenberg said, addressing Erskin in a message.

As of Tuesday, Erskin was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
