JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (February 10, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women’s tennis team were victorious Tuesday afternoon over in-state rivals Jacksonville State, 4-1, in Jacksonville, Ala.
North Alabama (4-2) continued its winning ways using a stellar display in singles play. Jacksonville State started fast with the doubles point, but momentum swung in favor of UNA when singles began. Four-straight wins on courts one, three, four and five sealed the road win and gave North Alabama its third-straight win of the season and third-straight series victory over the Gamecocks.
Jacksonville State (3-2) opened the dual with doubles wins on courts one and three.
Polina Ramenskaja and Emma Montagner started with a 6-2 win from court one over senior Eeva Ristola and junior Louise Booker. The Gamecocks’ Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo and Sae Kaneko followed with the clinching win, defeating freshmen pair Farah Asaad and Sammie Schouten 6-4, from court three.
The North Alabama comeback began with a dominant win from junior Mathilde Delaney. She went on to defeat the Gamecocks’ Rodriguez-Rizo, 6-1, 6-1, from court three. UNA’s Schouten gave her team the 2-1-point advantage with a hard-fought, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) triumph against Kaneko on court five.
Booker also had a battle from court four, but she stood tall to take a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win against Jacksonville State’s Isabella Sambola. The clinching dual win came from the top flight with Ristola taking down Ramenskaja in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
Ristola, Booker and Schouten each claimed their third singles victory of the season. Delaney’s win secured her second singles triumph in the early campaign.
The two unfinished singles matches saw junior Emma Ansorge and Asaad holding the advantage in their respective bouts.
Ansorge was in the third set against Irene Artigas, leading 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 2-1 from court two. Asaad was close to clinching her singles win over JSU’s Montagner, taking the first set, 7-5, before tying the second, 6-6, from court six.
