Investing in workforce preparedness
When we started working with M-DCPS and MDC, their leaders said their dream was for students to carry the mastery they gained in K-12 all the way to college, and then into the world of work. MDC is part of the Google AI for Education Accelerator, which offers free access to industry-recognized career certificates, AI training and Google’s most advanced AI tools. And the district has trained thousands of students and faculty in Google’s AI Essentials training.
We are also supporting Miami Dade College as a leader of the National Applied AI Consortium (NAAIC), which connects community colleges, industry leaders and faculty nationwide to build a robust national AI talent pipeline. To further the work of the NAAIC, we are providing a $2 million grant that will support their mentorship expansion to 30 community colleges across 20 states.
Across the board, we have nearly 3,000 courses featuring AI experts from Google, on teams ranging from Google DeepMind to Grow with Google, Google Cloud and Google for Education. Today, we’re bringing all these courses and credentials into one spot, with the launch of a global platform called Google Skills. To date, people have completed more than 26 million courses, labs and credentials in the past year alone.
Building skills doesn’t just fuel career growth — it powers businesses, too. That’s why Google continues to expand its efforts to connect trained talent to employers. And now, we’re taking it one step further. Employers like Miami-Dade County Public Schools, that want to identify and hire top talent quickly, are using our skills-based hiring initiative. For those who complete a Google Cloud Certificate, there’s now a direct pathway to an interview with M-DCPS.
