CASSELBERRY, Fla. — An 8-year-old was shot in the leg Sunday morning while inside their residence, according to officials at the Casselberry Police Department.
Officials say the incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. and took place at the Goldem at Regency Oaks apartment complex.
No arrests have been made, and witnesses told authorities they saw someone flee the scene.
Detectives are investigating to determine if this was a targeted attack gone wrong or totally random.
They are looking into all leads and have no details on a suspect or the vehicle that left the scene at this time.
Police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The child is alive and is being treated at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
