VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Chattanooga-based realtor has been arrested on Florida warrants after investigators say he stole $30,000 from a business using a fraudulent check.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the arrest in a social media post, identifying the suspect as James West.
Authorities say West is accused of taking $30,000 from a local business called Better Barricades.
According to the sheriff’s office, its Financial Crimes Unit investigated the case and obtained warrants for grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.
Chattanooga Police later took West into custody on those warrants.
The sheriff’s office also says West faces an additional charge after he committed battery on a law enforcement officer while being transported by officers from St. Joseph Detention.
