Fort Lauderdale United FC has officially announced a change in leadership, parting ways with Head Coach Alissa “Ali” Rogers, effective immediately.
The decision marks a significant shift for the club as it navigates its sophomore era in professional women’s soccer. Rogers, who has been a foundational figure for the organization since its inception, leaves after a tenure characterized by rapid growth and transition.
A Foundational Journey
Rogers first joined the club as Associate Head Coach for the inaugural 2024–25 season. Her impact was immediate, helping to build the club’s culture from the ground up. In September 2025, she was elevated to the Head Coach position, succeeding Tyrone Mears as the club prepared for the 2025–26 campaign.
During her time at the helm, Fort Lauderdale United FC focused on:
Competitive Play: Holding its own in the high-stakes Gainbridge Super League.
Infrastructure: Establishing a professional environment for elite athletes.
Long-term Growth: Laying the groundwork for the club’s future identity in South Florida.
Statements from the Front Office
Tyrone Mears, President of Soccer for Fort Lauderdale United FC, expressed gratitude for Rogers’ contributions while acknowledging the difficult nature of the business.
“Ali was part of our journey from day one… We appreciate her efforts and wish her the very best in the next chapter of her career,” Mears stated. “Change is part of professional sports, and we believe this decision positions Fort Lauderdale United FC for continued growth moving forward.”
What’s Next for the Club?
The club has not yet named an interim replacement or a permanent successor. However, with the 2025–26 season underway, the front office is expected to move swiftly to ensure stability within the squad.
The departure of Rogers signals a new chapter for the club as it seeks to build on the “strong foundation” established during its first two years of existence.
