During the Monday Leon County School Board agenda review meeting, officials focused on proposed cuts in spending to address the well documented financial challenges. One of the main points of discussion were approximately $13 million in proposed cuts for the 2027-27 budget. See the list.

On Friday, February 6th, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 5400 block of Touraine Drive, where they discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Touraine Drive is in the Lafayette Oaks neighborhood which is located off Mahan Drive about a mile west of the I-10 interchange.

Charlie Woods, the son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, has verbally committed to play golf at Florida State and will be a member of the 2027 recruiting class.

A Florida House proposal that would allow the FDLE commissioner to designate domestic or foreign terrorist organizations advanced through its second committee on Tuesday.

Cuba’s government began cutting off jet fuel to nine airports yesterday, as the country undergoes an acute fuel shortage. Regional flights may not be impacted, but some long-haul flights may be forced to reroute, straining Cuba’s travel industry.
