Fifteen members of the Sanibel Bicycle Club recently ventured 220 miles across the state. The group of varying cycling experience started in Clearwater Beach, traveled east through central Florida for five days, and ended with a swim on New Smyrna Beach. President Jim Meyer reported that planning began in the fall. Officers Jim Cryder and Dan Wilhelm managed the route and logistics, as well as returning by vans at the end of the week. Wilhelm has knowledge of long-distance cycling from a trip across the United States in 2024. The routes followed other maps available on online platform for cyclists. Most of the trip followed the state’s pedestrian path systems, at times connected by short distances on roads.
