Underground loop in Orlando? Shingle Creek to start contract talks with The Boring Company

GOOD AFTERNOON. I’M STEWART MOORE. I’M NANCY ALVAREZ. MUSK HAS ALREADY MADE A NAME FOR HIMSELF ON THE SPACE COAST. OF COURSE, WITH SPACEX. BUT ANOTHER ONE OF HIS BUSINESSES COULD CHANGE THE WAY WE GET AROUND. I DRIVE WESH 2’S GREG FOX HAS BEEN TALKING WITH TOURISM LEADERS AND JOINS US LIVE ON I-DRIVE. GREG, ONE OF OUR THEME PARK GIANTS, COULD BE INVOLVED HERE. THAT’S RIGHT. BECAUSE WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, IN MAY, UNIVERSAL, EPIC UNIVERSE AND THE HOTELS AND RESORTS AROUND IT LIKE THIS ONE, AND THEY INVESTED MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN ROAD IMPROVEMENTS. BUT THE NEXT IMPROVEMENTS IN TRANSPORTATION COULD BE UNDERGROUND. JUST TWO MONTHS AFTER OPENING THE GATES TO ITS EPIC UNIVERSE THEME PARK, UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT MIGHT BE WORKING WITH A COMPANY OWNED BY BILLIONAIRE ELON MUSK TO BUILD A TRANSPORTATION LINK BETWEEN EPIC AND THE ORIGINAL UNIVERSAL PARKS ON THE WEST SIDE OF I-4. IT’S CALLED THE LOOP, AND THE GROWING NETWORK OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS HAS BEEN OPERATING IN LAS VEGAS SINCE 2021. BUILT BY MUSK’S BORING COMPANY. PASSENGERS RIDE IN TESLAS, SOMETIMES AT SPEEDS OVER 100MPH. THERE’S REALLY UNLIMITED GROWTH. THE NEXT TEN, 20 YEARS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING. JOSH WALLACH IS NOT JUST A LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER AND DEVELOPER. HE’S ON THE BOARD OF THE INTERNATIONAL DRIVE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, WHICH WORKS TO HELP EASE TRAFFIC HERE. HE SAYS REALTORS HAVE TOLD HIM MUSK’S COMPANY IS LINING UP LAND PURCHASES FOR RIGHT OF WAY, AND HE SEES IT POTENTIALLY STRETCHING BEYOND UNIVERSAL’S PARKS TO THE CONVENTION CENTER, THE AIRPORT AND A VARIETY OF LOCAL RESORTS. I’VE BEEN ON IT IN LAS VEGAS. IT’S THE COOLEST. LIKE ANYTHING COULD BE COOLER IN LAS VEGAS THAN WHAT’S ABOVE GROUND. THE COOLEST THING IN LAS VEGAS IS BELOW GROUND, AND I THINK WE COULD GET SOME OF THAT AS WELL HERE FOR US. THE PRESIDENT OF THE I-DRIVE CHAMBER, MARIA TRISCARI, SAYS SHE’S HEARD FROM SEVERAL SOURCES THAT THE TUNNEL PLAN IS BEING DISCUSSED, ADDING, I DRIVE IS KNOWN FOR BEING A FORWARD THINKING, TECH SAVVY DISTRICT THAT EMBRACES INNOVATION, WHICH IS ONE OF OUR BIGGEST ASSETS. SO IT’S NO SURPRISE THAT IDEAS LIKE THIS SURFACE. NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, BUT IT’S EXCITING TO SEE CONCEPTS EMERGING THAT REFLECT A BROADER VISION FOR ADVANCED AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION. ORLANDO IS NOT THE FIRST PLACE IN FLORIDA THAT COULD SEE A LOOP FROM MUSK’S COMPANY, FORT LAUDERDALE RECEIVED PROPOSED PLANS FROM THE BORING COMPANY A YEAR AGO, WITH THE AIM OF GETTING PEOPLE TO AND FROM THE BEACHES AND PORT MORE QUICKLY. BUT NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE. WE REACHED OUT TO THE GOVERNMENTS OF ORLANDO AND ORANGE COUNTY, AND ESSENTIALLY THEY’RE NOT PROVIDING COMMENT AT THIS TIME. THEY SAY THEY’RE JUST MONITORING WHAT IS GOING ON AND THEY’RE NOT INVOLVED IN ANY DISCUSSIONS, NOR HAVE THEY RECEIVED ANY FORMAL PLANS YET. WE REACHED OUT TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND ALSO THE COMPANIES OWNED BY ELON MUSK. WHEN WE HEAR BACK FROM THEM, WE’LL UPDATE OUR REPORT COVERI
