NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.—The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a man connected to an armed robbery investigation conducted on Stella Street.

Deputies arrested Angel Manuel Perez Jr. on Wednesday after responding to the armed robbery report at a home located on Rose Street in North Fort Myers.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim invited Perez Jr. into their home, where he then proceeded to brandish a firearm and demand the victim’s phone to transfer money to himself before running away from the scene.

The sheriff’s office launched its aviation unit, surveying the area for the fleeing Perez Jr. 

With the assistance of surrounding law enforcement, deputies located Perez Jr. on Stella Street in Fort Myers.

Law enforcement then said that the suspect exited his vehicle, barricaded himself inside a home for an unknown amount of time. Perez Jr. eventually complied with deputies, exiting the home and surrendering himself to law enforcement.

He was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing and eluding, and obstruction without violence. In addition to these charges, the sheriff’s office’s narcotics unit charged Perez with trafficking in cocaine.
