SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB/Gray News) – Authorities have identified those killed in a shooting on Tuesday in a gated Florida community.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said four people and a suspected shooter were found dead at a home in an Amberlea neighborhood.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as Russell Kot, along with the victims as Olga Greinert, 49, Florita Stolyar, 66, Anatoly Ioffe, 61, and Yaroslav Blyudoy, 39.
Sarastoa deputies were called to the neighborhood at about 12:30 p.m. after a report that a man had been shot.
Deputies arrived minutes later and found the man in the front yard with neighbors performing CPR. First responders said he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Inside the home, deputies found the bodies of two men and two women. The sheriff’s office said Kot was among the dead inside the residence.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Kot died of self-inflicted wounds. Officials said there are no known documented mental health crises nor a history of violence associated with him.
No motive has been determined, and the investigation remains active, authorities said.
Detectives said Kot’s vehicle was seen entering the Amberlea neighborhood just after 11 a.m. A neighbor’s Ring camera captured the sound of gunfire shortly after.
The Sarasota shootings are also believed to be related to a double homicide in Fort Lauderdale.
Authorities in Fort Lauderdale said Kot’s vehicle was captured on camera traveling north through Punta Gorda before the Sarasota killings, after that homicide occurred.
