FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — The Fort Pierce Police Department has identified the 65-year-old woman killed when a Jeep veered off the road, crashed into her and a nearby pool, and trapped her beneath the vehicle.

The Fort Pierce Police Department said that officers responded to the 1600 block of Laurel Leaf Lane around 2:10 p.m. in response to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

When officers arrived on scene, they reported that a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 38-year-old woman, veered off the roadway, crashing through hedges and fencing before entering a pool area.

The report states that the Jeep struck the 65-year-old woman, Anastasia Fiona Allman, of Massachusetts. Police say the crash damaged more fencing and hit the side of a house, which trapped the victim underneath the vehicle. Sections of S. Lawnwood Circle were closed for hours due to the crash, while St. Lucie County Fire Rescue worked to recover the trapped victim.

Allman was pronounced dead at the scene, the police department says. Officials said that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency at the time of the crash. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver has since been released and is in stable condition, the police department says.
