TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – For the first time, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office is launching a campaign to help with inmate reentry.
Javonni Hampton, Public Information Officer for LCSO, said the effort is called the “Clothing the Comeback Campaign,” and is focused on second chances and making sure people feel confident and prepared to enter the workforce when they leave.
“The goal here is to send them home ready for success, and that if clothing is a barrier it stops here,” Hampton said.

The sheriff’s office says it doesn’t want clothing to stand in the way of inmates who are trying to restart their lives. In partnership with Goodwill, they’re launching the Clothing the Comeback Campaign to help meet that need.
“Individuals in the community can come to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and actually drop off clothes here,” Hampton said. “The clothes that are donated here, we will turn those clothes into vouchers for those in our facility to use to buy professional clothing.”
They’re asking for professional clothing for men and women — the kind of items you’d wear to a job interview, including suits, ties, blouses, work slacks, as well as belts and jewelry.
The sheriff’s office says helping people feel prepared as they reenter society ultimately helps build a stronger, safer community.
“The more that they give clothing accessories, ties, the more it will benefit the community because individuals, once they leave here, they will be equipped to join the workforce, they are more confident, they are ready and it brings and builds a strong and safer community for Leon County,” Hampton said.
The clothing drop-off will take place on Monday, February 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office located at 2825 Major James Morgan Jr. Way.
