Tampa General Hospital is continuing its mark as a “national health care innovation hub” with the grand opening of the new TGH Innovation Center.

The 32,000-square-foot facility had its official opening on Wednesday morning at the Tampa Medical & Research District in Ybor City.

It is a collaborative hub for TGH’s innovation team, TGH Ventures, analytics and IT teams. It is also serving as the home for Palantir‘s Tampa headquarters, a software and data company.

TGH officials say the opening of the facility cements Tampa’s “growing role as a national destination for health technology, research and innovation.”

The TGH Innovation Center also features event spaces, classrooms, production studios and a “hospital room of the future” designed to showcase the latest advances in clinical innovation.

Startups, researchers and industry partners can come together and collaborate on turning concepts into visible initiatives.

“This sector is all about going deep and understanding the real problems that are plaguing the healthcare industry,” CEO John Couris said.

The opening of the Innovation Center is part of TGH Innovation Week, a showcasing held throughout the hospital’s locations region‑wide, spotlighting the breakthrough technologies and ideas reshaping the health care industry.
