Florida A&M Athletics has a full week ahead, with several teams continuing conference play and others beginning the season. 

FAMU Baseball  

The baseball team is gearing up for their season opener after a SWAC championship run in 2025. The Rattlers look to start off strong with a four-game home series against Eastern Illinois University at Moore-Kittles Field.  

Opening day is set for Friday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. The series continues Saturday, Feb. 14 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The final game is Sunday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. 

FAMU Men’s Basketball  

The men’s basketball team enters the week looking to snap a four-game losing streak after a 62-57 loss to Texas Southern on Saturday. Micah Octave led the Rattlers with a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. 

FAMU will host Prairie View A&M on Monday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Al Lawson Center. Fans are encouraged to wear green as the Rattlers look to pack the Pit for the SWAC matchup.

FAMU will travel to Jackson, Mississippi, to face Jackson State University on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center.

FAMU Women’s Basketball 

The women’s basketball team looks to continue its momentum with a two-game winning streak after an 86-73 win over Texas Southern on Saturday. Five Rattlers scored in double figures, led by Shaniyah McCarthy and Tahnyjia Purifoy with 19 points each in the SWAC matchup.  

FAMU travels to Mississippi to face Alcorn State on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. in Lorman, Mississippi, at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. 

The Rattlers then face Jackson State University on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. in Jackson, Mississippi, at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center.

FAMU Bowling  

The bowling team is headed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the Southern Queens Tournament, taking place Feb. 13-15.  Supporters can watch live on YouTube via the FAMU Women’s Bowling channel.  

FAMU Softball  

The softball team opened the season at the Campbell University Tournament, finishing the weekend 1-3 with a 6-5 win over Howard on Saturday with a strong performance from Jordan Douglas, who drove in two runs. The Rattlers will host Marshall in their home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at Veronica Wiggins Field at the University Softball Complex. 

FAMU will travel to Covington, Georgia to play in the 3rd Annual Leonard Moody HBCU Invitational. The Rattlers open the tournament Friday, Feb. 13 against Bowie State at 12:15 p.m. and face Coppin State at 4:45 p.m. Tournament play continues Saturday, Feb. 14 with games against Hampton at 12:15 p.m. and North Carolina Central at 4 p.m. The invitational concludes Sunday, Feb. 15 with a 12:15 p.m. matchup against South Carolina State.

FAMU Tennis 

FAMU tennis earned a 4-0 win over Edward Waters before falling 7-0 to Stetson in its most recent match. 

FAMU will host Troy University on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Althea Gibson Tennis Complex. The Rattlers then travel to Jacksonville to face North Florida on Friday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex. The week ends Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. with a match against Charleston Southern at Althea Gibson Tennis Complex.
