Rebecca Fishman Lipsey: Miami Foundation’s CEO targets a most generous Miami

Since her appointment in 2020 as The Miami Foundation’s president and CEO, Rebecca Fishman Lipsey has grown the foundation’s assets by more than 50%, which she credits to the power of collaboration and a joyful team.

Ms. Fishman Lipsey said she has infused a commitment to equity and collective impact into every initiative and is currently focused on building a physical home base for nonprofit strength and community solutions.

The Miami Foundation serves as a home base for generosity and community impact for Greater Miami, she said.

This past year, Ms. Fishman Lipsey has been working toward expanding Give Miami Day based events, including a new Miami Give 5K run, and investing in expanding community grants partnerships as a much-needed resource and discovering future community leaders through fellowship programming.

“The foundation has invested over $772 million toward strengthening Miami since its inception, and works to mobilize everyone who lives, works, and plays in Miami to get involved and give back meaningfully here,” she said. “Work towards helping organizations build strategic partnerships, not just with organizations that have the same mission or a similar mission, but also with organizations that have complementary missions. My goal is to make Miami the capital of generosity for the United States.”

Ms. Fishman Lipsey spoke with Miami Today reporter Abraham Galvan.

This week’s profile will appear in next year’s Book of Leaders.
