SAINT MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Rev. Brian D. McLaren

Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church will host the Rev. Brian D. McLaren for a program, “Leading Sanibel Forward & Caring for Creation,” on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. on Sanibel.

Hosted as part of the Interfaith Shared Scholar Program, attendees will take part in a thoughtful conversation about caring for creation and responding to climate concerns both locally and globally.

It will also address the reality of eco-anxiety and will consider what island congregations and individuals can do to love and sustain their islands in a time of climate crisis.

“St. Michael’s is honored to host this important conversation,” organizers said. “It is our hope that this critical dialogue will lead to meaningful and hopeful action.”

McLaren is an author, speaker, activist and public theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is a passionate advocate for “a new kind of Christianity” — just, generous and working with people of all faiths for the common good. McLaren is a faculty member with the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) and a podcaster for the CAC’s podcast, “Learning How to See.” He is a co-host of Southern Lights and supports a new progressive ecumenical campus ministry network called ZOE. McLaren has written or c-authored more than 20 books.

The program is free and open to the public.

Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church is at 2304 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
