A 19-year-old was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Tampa on Thursday.

Officers with the Tampa Police Department responded to the shooting on Brittany Lane just after 12:30 p.m. After arriving, they reportedly found a woman in her mid-30s with a gunshot to the upper body.

Despite lifesaving measures, police say she died from her injuries.

Investigators say they identified Jamarian Bradfield as the suspect in the shooting following evidence and witness statements.

According to Tampa police, preliminary investigation suggested that Bradfield and the woman, who were “acquainted with each other,” got into an argument immediately before the shooting. Bradfield reportedly pointed a gun at the woman and threatened to shoot her before the actual shooting happened.

Police say Bradfield was driving a 2015 Mercedes sedan, and after scouring the area, they found him at a nearby apartment complex on N 22nd St., where he was armed and detained. The Mercedes was impounded and officers seized the gun as evidence.

Bradfield was taken to Orient Road Jail and is now charged with murder, according to the police department.

“The swift apprehension of this armed individual is a direct result of the relentless work of our officers and investigators,” Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “We hope this quick arrest brings a sense of justice to the victim’s family as they navigate this senseless tragedy.”
