MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team will begin its spring season on Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Gators Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida.
Eighteen teams are scheduled to compete, including No. 2 Auburn, No. 20 Charlotte, No. 80 Chattanooga, No. 96 Florida Atlantic, No. 51 FGCU, No. 10 Florida, Furman, No. 61 Georgia Southern, No. 93 Indiana, Jacksonville, No. 80 Liberty, No. 21 Notre Dame, No. 12 Oklahoma State, Penn State, UCF, North Florida, No. 70 USF and No. 34 West Virginia.
The Mountaineers will tee off at 7:20 a.m. Saturday on the par-70, 6,701-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course. Golfers will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday, starting at 8 a.m.
Seniors Westy McCabe and Kaleb Wilson, sophomores Ryan Leach and Nick Turowski and freshman Jack Michael will represent the Mountaineers at this year’s event. The top four scores will count towards West Virginia’s overall team score.
“We had a great fall season, winning three events so hopefully keep the momentum going this spring,” coach Sean Covich said.
