PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Love is in the air in Port St. Lucie, as a local organization brings in two big celebrations focused on community and health.
Matt Lincoln and Sam Kerrigan spoke with Jose Becerra from Mattamy Homes and Nicole De Leon from the American Heart Association to discuss the events.
Mattamy Homes is hosting the Heart & Sole of Tradition 5K on Saturday, February 14, supporting the American Heart Association and its mission to fight heart disease — the leading cause of death nationwide. The event encourages the community to get active, prioritize their cardiovascular health, and come together for a meaningful cause.
Mattamy Homes is also partnering with the St. Lucie County Clerk’s Office to host a unique community wedding ceremony. Couples will say “I do” at 4 p.m. on Valentine’s Day beneath the iconic Heart in the Park sculpture.

Becerra shared the thoughts behind the events, “We don’t build homes, we build communities, and we believe in connecting the communities together. We built the world’s largest sculpture, over 70 feet in Heart in the Park, to make sure the community has a place to unite, share common values. Obviously, we have Valentine’s Day coming up, and they’re able to share beautiful moments with love.”
The group is also teaming up with the St. Lucie County Clerk’s Office to host a group wedding in Tradition. Couples will tie the knot under the 70-foot Heart in the Park sculpture. The ceremony starts at 4 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.
With the 5K promoting heart health and the wedding ceremony celebrating love, the events perfectly tie together Valentine’s Day spirit and the importance of taking care of your heart — both physically and emotionally.
