Six Tampa Bay radio stations will combine efforts next week for a 24-hour, commercial-free radiothon to raise money for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in partnership with Children’s Miracle Network.
The fundraiser, “We’re All In for All Children,” will begin at noon Thursday (Feb. 19) and run continuously through noon Friday (Feb. 20). It’s organized by Cox Media Group Tampa Bay and will air across its six local stations: adult contemporary “Magic 94.9” WWRM; urban AC “101.5 The Vibe” WTBV; talk “102-5 The Bone” WHPT; soft AC “105.5 The Dove” WDUV; classic rock “107.3 The Eagle” WXGL; and “97X” WTBV-HD2.
Plans call for the stations to broadcast stories from patient families and hospital staff, highlighting the hospital’s care, treatments and programs. The effort marks the company’s largest annual fundraiser and coincides with the hospital’s 100th anniversary on Feb. 19.
“This is our largest fundraising effort, and our entire team is honored to partner with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital,” Jason Meder, Vice President and Market Manager, Cox Media Group Tampa Bay, says in a news release. “So many families in our community — including my own — have been impacted by the care All Children’s provides. There is no better time to support this mission than during the hospital’s centennial year.”
Hospital officials said funds raised during the radiothon will be donated as unrestricted support, allowing the facility to address urgent needs, including research, medical technology, education and patient care programs.
“This first-ever All In for All Children Radiothon would not be possible without the incredible support of our radio partner and their teams,” says Jenine Rabin, Executive Vice President, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Foundation and Community Affairs and Engagement. “From day one, Cox Media Group has shown up with generosity, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to our mission. We are so grateful for the way they’ve embraced this inaugural year and helped bring the stories of our patients and families to life for our community.”
