Sheretta Joseph is the owner and director of Ready, Set, Go, Learn Childcare, which is located on Jacksonville’s Northside.
On Saturday, Feb. 7, Ready, Set, Go, Learn hosted their “My Hero and Me” Valentine’s dance with the theme “Heroes and Hearts.” The dance was held at Caring Hands CPR Jax. Caring Hands offers basic first aid and CPR training in Jacksonville. Caring Hands also offers babysitting courses that are perfect for teenagers looking to start their own babysitting business.
Joseph opened Ready, Set, Go, Learn three years ago, and she’s been teaching CPR for 15 years. She is part of a mentorship program and to help promote increased male engagement in the childcare setting she put together the “My Hero and Me” dance.
“I wanted the dads, uncles, big brothers, godfathers and anyone who is an active role model in the child’s life to come be apart of it,” said Joseph.
The purpose of this event was to bring families together for a Valentine celebration that honors the positive male role models in their child’s life. The dance focused on connection and creating meaningful memories between children and the special men who support and guide them.
“The whole point of the male engagement process is to have more men active in their child’s life especially during the early years,” Joseph said.
Children and adults were encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costume to the dance, which also featured crafts and refreshments.
“This event supports our commitment to building strong family partnerships and encouraging active male involvement in early childhood development,” said Joseph.
