A longtime Jacksonville auto dealership marked a major milestone this week.
National Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram celebrated its 50th anniversary, recognizing five decades of business in the community.
Harry Brown, who led the company for 45 of those years, was honored during the celebration for his contributions both as a business owner and community leader. In addition to overseeing the dealership’s growth, Brown has served as chairman of the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce and as a North Carolina state senator.
Current General Manager Robbie Yates credited the dealership’s employees for its longevity and success.
“We have long-time employees who have been with us for a long time,” Yates said. “I think they feel very honored to be a part of the celebration. It’s incredible — out of about 90 employees, how many have pitched in to design the buttons and to plan this day.”
Yates is among the dealership’s veteran staff members, having worked at National for 35 years.
Company leaders said the anniversary celebration was an opportunity to thank employees, customers and the Jacksonville community for their continued support over the past five decades.
