TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Night to Shine returned to Tallahassee Friday night, giving people of all ages with disabilities a night to celebrate that’s all about them.
From llamas to karaoke, to dancing and sensory rooms, there was a little bit of something for everyone at the highly anticipated event.
Torey Roberts attended Friday’s festivities.
“It feels amazing to come to Night to Shine prom, this is my 6th year. So I’m very excited to come here,” Roberts said.
Guests were made to feel special before they even walked through the doors, with a red carpet rolled out and a cheering crowd ready to welcome them.
Many attendees said their favorite part of the evening was dancing.
“The dancing just really gives us a chance to cut loose for once,” one attendee said.

But beyond the music and the fun, they say it’s about something even bigger, making every guest feel seen, valued and celebrated without focusing on what makes them different.
“It’s really special, it shows that people out there really care about us,” attendee Morgan Smith said.
Some guests spent the night on the dance floor or singing their favorite songs at karaoke, while others took a break in quiet rooms filled with sensory toys.
There were 700 guests in attendance on Friday night, but a total of 1,900 people came out to support. Organizers say they will start to plan next year’s Night to Shine in just a few weeks.
