TAMPA, FL — A 19-year-old man was charged with murder in the Thursday afternoon fatal shooting of a woman in the 10900 block of Brittany Lane, Tampa police said in a news release.
Officers that responded to reports of a shooting just after 12:30 p.m. found the victim, who was in her mid-30s, with a gunshot to her upper body. Although they performed lifesaving measures on her, she died from her injuries.
Investigators gathered evidence and spoke with witnesses, quickly identifying Jamarian Bradfield as the suspect, police said.
Bradfield and the woman, who knew each other, got into an argument before the shooting.
While driving a 2015 Mercedes sedan, he reportedly pointed a gun at the woman and threatened to shoot her before the actual shooting, police said.
Officers searching the area found Bradfield at a nearby apartment complex in the 10400 block of North 22nd Street, police said. He was armed and was detained without incident.
His car was impounded and the gun seized as evidence.
“The swift apprehension of this armed individual is a direct result of the relentless work of our officers and investigators,” Chief Lee Bercaw said. “We hope this quick arrest brings a sense of justice to the victim’s family as they navigate this senseless tragedy.”
