Much-needed rain arrives on Sunday for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

  • February 14, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – If you’re planning Valentine’s Day activities, Saturday is looking fantastic! Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s, which is ideal weather for outdoor plans or a romantic evening out. Tonight will be partly cloudy with patchy late-night fog developing, especially across the Florida Panhandle. Lows will range from the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.

Sunday cold front

On Sunday, a significant weather system moves through the region. A line of showers and thunderstorms will barrel through the area, bringing much-needed rainfall to the Big Bend and South Georgia.

Rain will arrive as early as 6 A.M. on Sunday near the Apalachicola River. The line continues to move east through the morning and through roughly 6 P.M. The earlier it rains, the thicker the cloud cover, the lower the risk of strong storms.

What it guaranteed was the rain. Totals will range from 0.5″ to 1.5″.

A few strong storms

Along with the beneficial rainfall, there is a slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather on Sunday across much of the area.

A few storms have the potential to be strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts as the primary threat. Either way, it’ll still be breezy with frequent gusts between 30 to 35 mph ahead of the line. A Tornado or two cannot be ruled out, though the tornado threat remains low at this time.

Drier and warmer next week

More pleasant weather returns Monday as high pressure builds over Florida. Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 70s early next week, with some locations climbing to 80 degrees by mid to late week. Drier conditions will prevail throughout the week.
