TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Nine months after leaders broke ground for one of Tallahassee’s newest parks, officials are sharing an update on the progress.
Significant development has taken place at the southside park, which sits at the corner of Orange Avenue and Meridian Street.
It includes a shaded children’s play area, fitness area, and picnic pavilions.
“We’re excited about what we have going on in this area,” City of Tallahassee Mayor Pro Tem Curtis Richardson said.

He said the long-term goal is to continue improving all of Tallahassee’s communities and the park is one part of the bigger picture.
“We’ve made a commitment to improve the quality of life for citizens who live on the southside of Tallahassee, and this is one of those improvements – in addition to transportation, infrastructure improvements, housing,” Richardson said.
Though the groundbreaking was last May, the project has been in the works since 2021, according to the city.
Now, Richardson said the park is “nearing completion” and city leaders hope it will be ready by the summer.
