Southwest Floridians can catch dinner and a show later this month through April, all while benefiting Cape Coral’s animal shelter.
Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers has announced a partnership and sponsorship with the Cape Coral Animal Shelter in celebration of its upcoming production of the musical “CATS.”
Broadway Palm officials said as part of this creative and community-driven collaboration, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter will be naming several of its adoptable cats after characters from “CATS,” bringing a Broadway flair to the shelter while helping spotlight animals in need of loving homes.
“Partnering with an iconic production like ‘CATS’ helps shine a spotlight on the animals in our care while bringing together art, community, and animal welfare in a meaningful way,” said CCAS Executive Director, Liz McCauley. “We’re grateful to Broadway Palm for using the power of theater to help support and inspire love for shelter animals. This partnership reflects Broadway Palm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations and giving back to the community through the arts.”
“CATS” opens at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre on Feb. 20 and plays through April 4.
There will be a “Cape Coral Animal Shelter Night at the Theatre” on Sunday, March 1, at the 7 p.m. show. McCauley said $5 of every ticket sold will be donated to the shelter.
“We will be doing a photo shoot with the characters from the play and some of our adorable kittens closer to opening night, so stay tuned for some great photos of that,” she added.
Broadway Palm officials said CCAS representatives and their feline friends will be invited to a special CATS dress rehearsal, where the cast will meet their real-life counterparts.
Broadway Palm also will host a fundraising initiative throughout the run of CATS, selling special “PAWS” donations, with proceeds directly benefiting the Cape Coral Animal Shelter. Funds raised will support the shelter’s mission of rescuing, caring for, and rehoming animals in Southwest Florida.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Cape Coral Animal Shelter on a production that so perfectly aligns with their mission,” said Broadway Palm’s Director of Marketing, Kathy Bernier, in a release. “‘CATS’ is about individuality, compassion, and belonging — values that resonate deeply with the incredible work the shelter does every day.”
