BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech dropped to 17-9 and 6-7 in conference play after Florida State’s second-half offensive barrage led to a 92-69 loss inside Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies could not recover from a 13-0 run by FSU in the second half, led by Martin Somerville, who ended with 23 points on 82% shooting.

Ben Hammond and Tobi Lawal kept Tech within striking distance of the lead for most of the second half, scoring 16 each, but the Seminoles’ three-point attack and pressure defense halted any momentum the Hokies gained.

GAME NOTES
• The starters for Virginia Tech were Neoklis Avdalas, Ben Hammond, Jailen Bedford, Tobi Lawal and Amani Hansberry for the fifth straight game.
Ben Hammond was on point from beyond the arc, hitting four threes in as many attempts.
• Every starter hit double figures: Hammond (16), Lawal (16), Bedford (13), Avdalas (10) and Hansberry (10).
• Avdalas’ three three-pointers were the most since Virginia on New Year’s Eve
