PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Two men are facing over 30 charges after police say they caught them in the middle of a string of Port St. Lucie car burglaries early Friday.

Early Friday morning, officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) say they were called to the 2000 block of SE Trillo Street for reports of people rummaging through a car.

According to PSLPD, the suspects, later identified as Yamsuel Jiminez Reyes and Dario Martinez, were dressed in vibrant colors with balaclavas covering their faces.

Officers say they canvassed the area and caught both suspects in the act as they were allegedly attempting to burglarize another car.

The investigation revealed that the duo had burglarized multiple unsecured cars, and Reyes was located with a gun in his pocket.

Martinez was booked for 20 charges, including possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, burglary, wearing a hooded mask during the commission of a crime, and possession of burglary tools. Reyes was booked on 13 charges, including armed burglary, wearing a hooded mask during the commission of a crime, possession of burglary tools, and petit theft.

Officers remind the community to double-check that homes and cars are locked to help deter break-ins.
