FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast scored six runs in the eighth inning to top the North Dakota State baseball team in the series finale, 10-6, on Sunday afternoon at Swanson Stadium.

The Bison (0-3) scored in each of the first two innings to build a 4-0 advantage after Dante Smith delivered an RBI single up the middle in the second frame. After FGCU (3-0) plated a run in the third, Blake Timmons extended the lead with an RBI single to make the score 5-1 in the sixth inning.

The Eagles pulled their way back after Jeremy Comer lifted a two-run home run to left center in the sixth and Jaret Nelson used an RBI sacrifice fly in the seventh to cut the edge to 5-4. Smith answered for NDSU with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 6-4 in the eighth. However, FGCU responded with six runs on five hits in the bottom half of the eighth inning to steal a 10-6 advantage after Comer connected on a two RBI single to center field. The Bison got three runners on in the ninth, but left them stranded to drop the contest, 10-6.
