Federal officials were investigating a plane crash Feb. 15 into the Florida Everglades.

The Federal Aviation Administration was on scene and is the primary agency on the investigation, said Adam Fisher, a Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Someone called at 12:49 p.m. Feb. 15 when the person saw a plane in the water about five miles west of Everglades City in the Ten Thousand Islands area, Fisher said in an email.

The person did not see it crash and only saw the plane in the water, he said. The Collier Sheriff’s marine unit and aviation helicopter responded and found two patients and their conditions were unconfirmed, Fisher said.
