Boring Company Chosen for Orlando Transit Talks to Connect Epic Universe - News and Statistics

A Florida district board has voted to begin contract negotiations with The Boring Company for a proposed underground transit system connecting Universal Orlando‘s parks. According to Fox Business, the Shingle Creek Transit and Utility Community Development District Board authorized the move on February 11 after determining the company’s proposal best met the district’s criteria for an innovative solution.

The proposed system is intended to ease congestion on International Drive by linking Universal’s existing parks and CityWalk with the Epic Universe park, which opened in 2025. The project is also meant to support broader transportation infrastructure improvements, including the planned Sunshine Corridor and expansion-related transit needs.

The board’s decision follows a competitive process that included proposals from other firms, such as Glydways. Some competitors suggested elevated guideway systems to reduce construction time, but the district chose to pursue an underground concept similar to The Boring Company’s existing Vegas Loop system in Nevada.

The vote does not finalize a contract. Any agreement would still require subsequent board approval, and officials stated they will evaluate the project’s operational and financial feasibility before proceeding.
