FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Deputies in St. Lucie County are investigating a homicide that occurred early Monday morning.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 12:45 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 3200 block of Oleander Avenue in Fort Pierce.

Upon arrival, they reported finding the victim and securing the area.

The Sheriff’s Office said that their Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigators are currently leading the investigation, which remains active.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area, as Oleander Avenue is closed to traffic between King Orange Drive and Kanner Drive.
