With Valentine’s Day greeting all of us college students this past weekend, if you’re wanting to find a soft and stylish new restaurant to go to, “Bruno’s of Brooklyn, Italian Eatery” might be the scene for you.

Now, Bruno’s is an extremely popular place to dine at, located in Downtown Fort Myers. Make sure you book a reservation.

With brick walls and warm lighting accents, and clean white tables, the restaurant feels elegant as you dine in. There is also a small bar seating area, which is easy to reserve a spot.

Bring a friend and snatch a couple of barstools, because that’s exactly what I did. We started with a tasty appetizer called the “The Bruno Trio,” that consisted of toasted crostinis with spreads of olive tapenade, pesto and bruschetta. The pesto was incredibly rich and savory, but was flawlessly balanced with the bruschetta, which was mixed together with balsamic glaze.

As for the olive tapenade, we all know I may be seen as a picky eater, so this was out of my ballpark. Olive tapenade mostly consists of a blend of olives, capers, anchovies and olive oil, a picky eater’s nightmare. In reality, the briny spread had an extremely summery taste, salty and fresh.

In contrast, the entrée I had finally decided on after studying the menu for nearly 15 minutes was the “Chicken Cutlet Parmigiano.” I chose well, the pan-fried chicken breast was insanely crunchy for still being drenched with red sauce and melted Parmesan and mozzarella. For the dish itself, it’s a heavy meal with a huge portion of rigatoni noodles.

We all know what it’s like going out to dinner with our friends and sharing our dishes so we get a little bit of everything. After digging in and getting a tiny taste of the “Penne alla Vodka,” I now know what I will be getting next time I make an appearance at “Bruno’s of Brooklyn.” The sauce was balanced pretty well, very light and not too heavy with the spices, especially pepper.

For someone who doesn’t necessarily drink, it’s sometimes fun to try new flavors. There’s a very colorful and uniquely named drink called “Unicorn Tears” that is mixed with blackberry puree, hibiscus-infused syrup, Patron Cristalino tequila, Cointreau and a sprinkling of edible glitter. Sweet enough, the ingredients work together insanely well, especially the saccharine sweetness of the blackberry puree and floral notes of the hibiscus syrup.

“Bruno’s of Brooklyn” isn’t just a great place to go to for the food, but for the service and atmosphere. The service is incredibly kind, the music is light and airy just like the ambience.
