TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Starting Tuesday, a section of Velda Dairy Road will be closed temporarily for a week, according to the Leon County Government.
From Tuesday, Feb. 17, to Tuesday, Feb. 24, Velda Dairy Road between Rabbit Pond Trail and Monterey Pines Trail will be closed, county officials wrote a press release Monday.
The closure is “to complete utility tie-ins and to mill and resurface the roadway associated with the Velda Dairy Villas Subdivision,” officials said.

Southbound traffic will be detoured west along Bradfordville Road, then south onto Thomasville Road and finally east onto Kerry Forest Parkway to Velda Dairy Road, according to the release.
Northbound traffic is expected to be detoured west onto Kerry Forest Parkway, then north onto Thomasville Road and lastly, east onto Bradfordville Road to Velda Dairy Road.
Residents of Quail Rise Court will be redirected south onto Velda Dairy Road during construction occurring to the north of their street and will then be directed north onto Velda Dairy Road when construction takes place to the south of Quail Rise Court, per officials.
