LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A 69-year-old woman was killed on Valentine’s Day following a seven-vehicle crash that involved a semi-truck on the Florida Turnpike.

According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the 69-year-old Greenacres woman was traveling north on the Florida Turnpike near the 89-mile marker. Around the same time, a semi-truck was traveling north on Florida’s Turnpike.

FHP says for reasons that are unclear, the front left of the woman’s Honda Ridgeline collided with the semi-truck’s right rear position of the trailer. The woman in her Honda continued driving north and re-entered the outside travel lane and continued driving.

The third vehicle, a Jeep Wagoneer carrying four people, was traveling north near mile marker 90 when it was struck from behind by the 69-year-old woman’s Honda. Her vehicle then continued north and collided with a Honda CR-V carrying two passengers.

After colliding with the fourth vehicle, the Honda rotated and came to a final rest facing the outside shoulder and travel lane. The crash report from FHP says after the fourth vehicle was struck by the Honda it spun in a clockwise direction, causing the front of the vehicle to collide with a barrier wall and the back of a 2025 Lincoln Aviator.

The third vehicle continued head push northwest, sideswiping a 2023 Hyundai Tucson and a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, both of which were carrying four occupants.

FHP says by the time troopers arrived at the scene, the Hyundai Tucson, the Jeep Cherokee, the Lincoln Aviator, and the Jeep Wrangler were removed from the scene

According to FHP, a total of six minors were involved in the crash; three were taken to the Delray Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. Out of the seven drivers involved in the crash, two were taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries.

The 69-year-old woman who was driving a Honda Ridgeline was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
