Police detained a person of interest after a shooting in Tampa Overlook neighborhood near Busch Gardens. One man was injured but is stable, according to TPD.

TAMPA, Fla. — Following a shooting in Tampa, police have detained a person of interest. One person was injured in the shooting, according to officers.

The Tampa Police Department said that shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting incident just east of Busch Gardens, in the area of 27th Street and 98th Avenue within the neighborhood of Tampa Overlook.

“When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition,” police said.

Detectives detained a person of interest as a result of the investigation, police said.

The investigation is still active, according to police.
