ORLANDO, Fla. —  A+ Teacher Clint Walsh is one of those instructors who has spent nearly their entire lifetime learning a subject that they are curious about. History is his passion.

Take one step inside Clint Walsh’s classroom at Discovery Middle School and you will see just how much he loves sharing his passion for history with his students, each and every day.

For him, history comes alive inside the walls of the schoolhouse.

He has always been intrigued by looking back and said that “even as a child, I was interested in reading about historical figures and learning about the past, and it was something that just clicked for me.”

But then he discovered something else.

“And then I realized that I also, as a child of educators, that I was always passionate about teaching as well,” he said.

Teaching seems to run in his family, too.

“And then my wife is also an educator,” he said. “She’s actually two doors down from here, so she works at this school as well.”

An educator since 2005, Walsh said technology has made things difficult in the classroom in some ways, but in others, he said it offers opportunities.

“There are days like today where it’s nice to pull them off those laptops and kind of just get them in groups and having those conversations,” he said. “I’m hoping that they take these lessons with them in the future again as civic actors as people out there hoping to participate in their communities, participate in their government, participate with the people around them.”
