TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – An occupant escaped a house fire early Tuesday morning on Jefferson Road just before it was deemed a total loss, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
The incident unfolded just after 2 a.m. after TFD was dispatched to the report of a residential structure fire on Jefferson Road, the fire department wrote in a press release.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the kitchen area of a single-wide mobile home, according to the press release.
The home was occupied at the time of the fire, but one occupant was able to escape before the arrival of emergency crews, firefighters said.

“The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced resident,” the fire department said.
Moments later, crews quickly knocked down the fire and completed a primary as well as a secondary search to confirm no additional occupants were inside the home, per TFD. No pets were reported inside the mobile home.
However, the home was deemed a total loss, according to firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
