Continuing its Black History Month program, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra presents the Florida premiere of “Had to Be” by Haitian-American composer Nathalie Joachim, performed by cellist Seth Parker Woods.
The evening also includes the orchestra’s premiere of “Four Black American Dances” by Carlos Simon, a work highlighting the breadth of Black American cultural expression.
The program pairs these contemporary works with Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 “Haffner” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio espagnol.” A pre-concert conversation begins 30 minutes before the show.
