JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The woman charged in a deadly Jacksonville shooting over the weekend was denied pretrial release after arguments were heard in court Tuesday.

According to court records, 23-year-old Marissa Teubner of Jacksonville was ordered to be detained. This comes after Teubner was arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of 31-year-old Marcquila Harris over the weekend.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, officers responded to the 800 block of West Chambers Street for the report of shots fired. Police said the victim, later identified as Harris, was taken to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries. Harris was later pronounced dead.

The next day, Teubner was arrested for homicide first degree and aggravated discharge of a firearm in reference to the deadly shooting and was brought to the Morgan County Jail.

Teubner was appointed a public defender. This case has been continued to March 3 for a preliminary hearing.
